Hong Kong Recycling understands that education is the key to environmental protection. Thus, we have designed a series of activities concerning environmental protection to help residents develop good habits and teach their children at home.
Basing on the needs of users under different geographical environments, e.g. different buildings, properties, residential areas, offices or construction sites, we have designed different environmental protection activities to help education, including:

We organize environmental protection related activities, for example, photo-taking contests, funfairs, handcrafts production according to the needs of our customers. We welcome your opinion and provide professional feedback to help designing suitable activities for you.
We send service officers to collect customers’ opinions regularly to understand their needs, coordinate jobs, solve problems, report result for enhancing efficiency.

Hong Kong Recycling Co. Ltd thinks that waste separation and recovery do not only rely on service provider but also the joined effort of different parties like cleaner and property management companies. Thus, we also provide environmental education, waste separation infrastructure and also waste management consultation to cope with the demand of changing market. We hope that our professional service on waste management is not only reducing the waste in landfill but also helping our living environment.
1. Residential areas
Hong Kong Recycling is a contractor of the waste separation project of the Environmental Protection Department responsible for the organization and promotion of environmental protection strategies in more than 200 residential properties. We collect household materials like:
- Paper
- Plastic bottles
- Aluminum cans
- Used clothing
- Used electric appliance
"Yellow Bus Project" Unused Clothing Collection Service
Our Yellow Bus project is one of our major continuing collection activities which allows citizens to put into the bus their unwanted clothing for recycling and reuse. The Bus is beautiful and durable, suitable to be used in residential areas.
2. Commercial and Industrial areas
For a 24-hour international commercial and industrial centre, Hong Kong consumes a lot of resources every day. In order to reinforce the efficiency in environmental protection and promote Hong Kong’s image as an international city, Hong Kong Recycling collects unwanted materials for commercial and industrial units of all sizes. We collect:
Toner cartridges. Most cartridges can be reused when refilled. Even the plastic and metal in non-reusable cartridges can be recycled.
- Ink cartridges
- Paper
- Metal parts
Apart from collection services, we also provide professional advice for individual offices and factories to help running environmental protection measures.
3. Confidential data
In order to protect customers’ important and confidential data, Hong Kong Recycling provides services to help customers destroy confidential documents and CDs. Documents are transported to our shredding factory in Kwai Chung with enclosed lorries and then to shredders. The process is supervised by CCTV to ensure the confidentiality.

Hong Kong Recycling has developed a recycling factory to provide facilities for the development of recycling technology and for the collection, separation and export of materials.
1. Separation
The collected materials will be transported to recycling factories for separation. The materials collected in Hong Kong are mainly paper, plastics and metals. After separation, the materials will be cleaned. Materials of larger sizes, for example, electric appliances, office equipments, will be taken apart before recycling.
2. Compression
After being taken apart and cleaned, materials will be processed and compressed for easy transport. For example, paper will be compressed and cut into a shape which fits containers.
3. Process
Some materials will be returned to their raw states and be supplied to factories. For example, plastic bottles can be put into small pieces after cleaning and become raw materials again.
Hong Kong Recycling believes recycling gives a new life to waste and saves natural resources. Proper treatment of waste is our professionalism, which also helps improve the effectiveness of environmental protection and thus our environment.

Around 90% of collected materials are exported overseas (e.g. Southeast Asia and China). We can see from the figures that the recycling of paper depends much on export.
When waste is collected and sent to recycling factories, it is usually put in the ships in public cargo working areas temporarily for transport and recycling in China and other countries. The process is as follows:
1. Loading/ Unloading
Most recycling factories are located in remote areas that are near to the sea for easy transport. They are equipped with simple piers and tools.
2. Waterway Transport
The recyclable materials are transported by river because of the convenience and the lower cost and larger capacity compared with transported by land route.
3. Transport to Processing Workshop
Waste collected is discharged directly at the factories or put temporarily (normally not more than half a day) in piers before being sent to process.
Hong Kong Recycling believes that in the process of waste collection, separation and export of materials, we help sharing the world's resources, which in turns help alleviating the problem of the uneven distribution of resources in today's world.
